Brett Parris – Biography

Dr Brett Parris

Dr Brett Parris is an economist focused on the interactions between economic development, poverty, climate change, energy and conflict.

He trained originally in science, with a Bachelor of Science in geology & chemistry, then completed a Bachelor of Theology, a Masters in Development Studies, and finally a GradDip, PostGradDip and PhD in Economics evaluating the different approaches to modeling economic development policy.

He worked for World Vision for almost 15 years, including most recently as its Chief Economist leading a team of economists and technical specialists, and coordinating World Vision’s climate policy work.

He currently works as a Lecturer in the School of International and Political Studies at Deakin University and as a Research Fellow in the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics at Monash University.
