Turning ideas into reality
In the course of BSRT discussions, it is not unusual for some great ideas to surface, ideas that require more expertise and effort than any one individual has the capacity to develop. The BSRT will enthusiastically support the development of these ideas via the following process:
Set-up
- An idea must have an enthusiast; an owner who is prepared to advocate for it and assume responsibility for its development. An idea without a champion can churn lots of time without hope of fruition. The champion may not necessarily be a BSRT member, however the project will need a member as an internal advocate. In the context of the BSRT, we will refer to the champions as Project Owners.
- A working group will be established to develop the idea into a (business) plan. This will take as long as it takes … But will be executed quickly enough to take advantage of the energy momentum.
- All effort in the development of the business plan will be volunteered, unless there are specific services that the Project Owner chooses to pay for.
- Any IP will rest with the Project Owner; any non-BSRT members who join the project workgroup will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
Implementation
- Responsibility for the funding and implementation of the project will remain with the Project Owner.
- The BSRT may claim a small percentage (negotiated) of equity in any entities established to deliver the project, in recognition of the facilitation and administration of the project set-up.
- Ongoing effort, whether governance or operational will be engaged commercially or otherwise at the discretion of the Project Owner or the appropriate decision-making processes of any established entity.
