Thought Leadership Forum – Population Density in Melbourne
The Business Sustainability Round Table, Arup and World Wind are hosting a thought leadership forum about how to adapt Melbourne to sustainably accommodate a burgeoning population over the coming decades. The proposed starting point for the discussion is that densification is essential to the creation of a more sustainable city and can achieve benefits for residents and community when properly conceived.
By drawing on the different perspectives of the invited participants from government, industry and academia the facilitated discussion will focus on how appropriate densification may be achieved.
An ideas for action paper will be published and provided to Building Melbourne, a new initiative of the Committee for Melbourne’s Climate Change Taskforce and Arup’s global work in developing sustainable cities.
This forum features as part of the State of Design Festival programme within the Business and Trade: Design|Made|Trade stream and will be opened by Melbourne’s Lord Mayor, Robert Doyle.
